The  overall objective of the Assignment is to assist the EIB with the activities  of the IF PDA for projects related to biofuels, biomass and biochar under the  2021 call of the Innovation Fund for Small-Scale (SSC) projects.    

The projects and related technology that be the subject of this Assignment  are the following:

• ZERO CARBON GYPSUM - The scope of the project is to facilitate a transition of an  energy-intensive gypsum plasterboard manufacturing site from natural gas use  to renewable on-site generated synthesis gas (syngas) using solid waste  biomass as a feedstock.    

• Hiisi I BIOCHAR - Carbo Culture will build an industry leading biochar  production facility in Finland. Biochar is the product of heating  lignocellulosic biomass to a high temperature which fixes the carbon into a  stable, functional material. This stores carbon that would otherwise be  released via decomposition.    

• ALGA3HERO -  ALGA3HERO is implementing a disruptive technology  to provide low cost and sustainable biofuel and biofertilizer, using  municipal and industrial wastewater as raw material, with water reuse as side  product.  

The services we provided were generally oriented on tasks for the  above-mentioned three assignments including the market study addressing  feedstock availability, supply strategy and product market identification,  independent technology review, third party review of technology emission, and  evaluation of voluntary CO2 market or inclusion into EU ETS market.
