DEM is one of the main partners in the granted EU HAPPI project, in which the project consortium includes the 6 common housing associations as well as DEM, Project Zero and EUC Syd. The overall purpose of the HAPPI project is to increase the energy renovation frequency in the social housing sector through an exemplary effort, bringing together 6 social housing association in Sønderborg Municipality.
The project brings into focus, the complex interplay between non-technological barriers (organizational, legal, financial) through a well-defined process- and capacity structure. The total investment in energy efficiency will include the building stock of 57 different departments in 6 different housing organizations, with a total of 6,200 tenants in 3,440 residences. The housing associations in Sønderborg, that make up approximately 20% of the building stock in the municipality, have already reduced their CO2-print by 44 %, and the HAPPI project is expected to reduce CO2-emission with an additional 1,650 tons of CO2. The investment, launched by HAPPI, is expected to lead to energy savings of 11.7 GWh per year, simultaneously generating approx. 1.6 GWh per year of renewable energy. The energy investments will amount to around 15 Mil EUR.
The services we provided for this assignment were focusing on screening of 56 housing departments for feasible energy renovation measures, calculation of energy investments, energy savings and feasibility, coordination of energy renovation investments in 6 housing associations, preparation of a catalogue of Innovative Energy Saving Technologies for housing associations, development of new business models and new financing models for energy renovation investments, preparing energy data monitoring systems for housing associations, development of energy management schemes for housing associations, training in energy management for staff members in housing associations.
