The objective of the assignment is to establish a plan for reducing electrical energy use in the residential sector by 20 % and in the business/government and industrial sector by 30 % by 2020 in Thinadhoo Island.

In the short term, initiatives implemented by this project should result in at least 5 percent reduction in electricity use by the end of performance of this contract. Focus is on demand-side electricity energy use.

Among the many activities were the development of an Electricity Conservation and Efficiency Improvement Action Plan for Thinadhoo Island; the execution of a training program for implementation of the Action Plan and support to implementation during the initial period; and design of Residential Electricity conservation training program targeted at Local NGOs, Womens’ Groups and school children.
