This assignment aims to develop the Zanzibar Clean Cooking Strategy, Investment Prospectus, and Communication Strategy (ZCCS, IP & CS) to accelerate the adoption of clean cooking solutions across Zanzibar. It will set clear targets and a roadmap aligned with Zanzibar’s energy context, contributing to Tanzania’s goal of 80% clean cooking access by 2034, while supporting climate commitments and broader socio-economic development.
The work includes establishing a baseline of the current cooking sector, identifying key barriers and opportunities, and analyzing market conditions, supply chains, and demand. It also examines links between cooking and sectors such as health, environment, and education, and highlights underserved areas.
The assignment further integrates gender considerations, defines appropriate clean cooking solutions, and identifies the optimal energy mix for universal access. A detailed roadmap will outline strategic actions, investment needs, timelines, and monitoring frameworks, alongside financing and communication strategies to drive behavior change.
Finally, the project will strengthen institutional capacity by providing technical support and training to ensure effective implementation and long-term sustainability of clean cooking initiatives in Zanzibar.
