Since the beginning of DEM, we have focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency in project-design, planning and implementation.
Concurrently with more and more well-accomplished projects, our knowledge of energy grew, and our attention turned more and more to energy savings and an increased knowledge of alternatives to the present energy sources.
For decades, we have worked in global development partnerships, with acknowledged institutions, such as the EU Comission, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA) and the UN Development Program (UNDP). Since then, we have expanded our area of business – also geographically – to include Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
In Denmark, we have a tradition for offering consultation to the Danish Energy Agency and all Danish municipalities and regions with energy planning, energy management, ESCO, and quality assurance.
We work Internationally with energy project, primarily within renewable energy, energy efficiency, demand control, energy in rural districts, energy policies and energy legislation.
Esbensen Consulting Engineers’ core competences were in particular Integrated Energy Design and the ability to enter into dialogue and advise from the start of a construction process.
In 1974, Torben Esbensen became the project leader for the design of a “Zero Energy House” for Denmark’s Technical University (DTU), which became one of the first passive buildings to be designed and built in Europe.
Zero Energy House was an inspiration for the following decades worth of big ventures into low-energy buildings, passive houses and plus-energy houses. DTU Zero Energy House was especially known for the building design, which Torben Esbensen three years later was rewarded for, with the “Pioneer Award for Passive House Design”.
In 2006, our office in Aarhus was established.
Esbensen Colsuting Engineers have a long tradition for delivering services in consultation and planning of environment-friendly and sustainable energy design, HVAC, ventilation, lighting and electrical supply.
Esbensen is known internationally to be a specialist, and a preferred collaborator in the field of energy design, renewable energy, daylight, natural ventilation and indoor climate. Projects have included environmentally sustainable high-rise buildings and large residential buildings, offices, hotels, educational and cultural institutions, sports facilities, industrial buildings and hospitals.
